What’s on this site?

This site is a way for people to access my published papers, working papers, datasets and other information relating to my research. The bulk of this revolves around the issue of the economic implications of transparency, although I have dabbled a little in education economics over the years. All datasets are in excel, and are available for free, with the only proviso that the requisite attributions are cited.

There are so many things to consider in regards to your work on transparency….. I am just first year Econ student so I cant contribute much….I was thinking though that your units of measure for your index of transparency collected from less transparent economies would inherently be somewhat unreliable , no , not unreliable but veiled somewhat , making it even harder to work with,,,,matty

Quite possibly Matt, it depends how the indicator is constructed. Often they’re based on ‘country experts’, which can make them prone to error as you suggest. However, for others this won’t apply. For example, the Release of Information indicators actually take advantage of the fact that countries are veiled with their info.
